Kind Promise: I will reinvent whimsically.

Whimsy paintingWhimsy is a wonderful word – just saying it blows a gust of curly wind through a mind that tends to furrow around life’s challenges.

I’ve just taken a tour through my “bug list” and found movement on each one. Easy fixes are completed. In other areas, I’m waiting for someone else to respond. In a few areas, I’m waiting for the whimsy breeze to blow.

While I concentrate on one kind promise every month, I want to practice them all day every day. I don’t want to clench around solving the bug list in a month. Instead, I am reviewing the list every week, giving each plate a spin before moving on. I’ve been playing with the kind promises for three years. I know from experience that while the bug list won’t disappear by the end of this month, when I check in with these items in three months’ time, everything will have shifted.

Whimsy: capricious humor or disposition; extravagant, fanciful, or excessively playful expression.

Whimsy makes challenges more approachable. An angel voice whispers, “Who knows? Maybe this could even be fun.” Whimsy invites me not to tiptoe toward my problems, but, instead, to caper with them.
