I was reminded recently of the Christian Scripture on love (first Corinthians 13:4-7).

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

A small group of us read it slowly, sat with it in silence, then spoke about what phrases invited our attention and made us think in new ways about love.

In your journal:

  • What speaks to you from that paragraph?
  • Write about a time you saw blood in action.
  • “Love is… Love is not… Love does not…”
