Flash of heat
travels from my chest to my face
how can these people
be so wrong?
Valuing their convenience
over my life
I am here
unimportant, yes
but just as vital as you are
to the web of the world
How dare you decide
I am not worthy?
But soften, soften
watch as the heat subsides
we are all here, muddling
gone beyond what we know
brought to our knees
by a strand of acid
Your poetry is stunning. Thank you, Kate.
Thank you for your kind words. When I write poetry, my world opens. No more hiding.
