“Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.”— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This quote made its way to my inbox this morning. I’ve been considering the kind promise “I will share strengths compassionately.” I’ve been focusing on questions like “what are my strengths? How can I share them without exhausting myself?” Because I haven’t been feeling well, even the first question has brought me to a slow stop., That is selfish thinking on my part.
It’s not up to me to decide whether what I have to offer is worthy. Rather, I can just give it. Compassion invites me to let go of any judgments I have and make my donation. In addition to material resources, I can offer my time, understanding, and attention. Even when I am not feeling physically strong, those are here in abundance.
What will you offer today?
