Welcome to Creativity Cookies, your monthly invitation to creative action!
The BIG IDEA this month, is:
Creativity coach extraordinaire Jamie Ridler told me recently that she finds it easier to do more creative things than to do fewer. She lost energy when she did less.
Suppose our creative output is water from a hose. Sometimes it feels right to have a hose blasting gallons of water. Other times, a steady trickle fits our lives. Spray nozzle? Pulsing? You decide. Allow yourself to experiment.
Ask: What stream of creative activity seems right for me at this point in my life?
Adjust your nozzle accordingly, realizing that your job is to adjust, watch the universe for feedback and adjust again without making up stories about what it means when an adjustment is needed. Treat your creative self with gentleness and compassion. Celebrate it!
My first choice was the baby playing with the hose (0:24), but that’s not available to embed. If you have more time (17:37), watch “What creativity is trying to tell you.” By Jonathan Tilley
