Delights of the Day (for the week)

As I go through my day, I watch for moments when the corners of my mouth turn up and my heart lifts. I note these moments of delight  in my journal and consider their patterns  here. I encourage you to be on the lookout for your Delight of the Day.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to pass through a band of new humans with their mothers.

First, I heard a new baby crying. A young mother emerged from a meeting room in the coffee shop where I was waiting for a support group I attend to begin (Journey of Hope) . She found a comfortable chair, strategically draped herself and the baby and began to nurse. Over the next few minutes, eight or nine mothers left the room, each carrying a young baby. Each baby was an invitation to let comfort and joy wash over me. I felt my body relax and smiled at each pair. Other people in the coffee shop were doing the same thing.

Being around small children often opens our hearts. We greet them with tenderness and are willing to forget ourselves to make silly faces, hoping to see them smile.

Notice how you respond to people of different ages as you go through the next week.

May you find delight in each day.
