As I go through my day, I watch for moments when the corners of mouth turn up and my heart lifts. I note these moments of delight, capture them in my Journal and log them here. I encourage you to be on the lookout for your Delight of the Day.
I began this week uncomfortably overcommitted. I felt like people were expecting more of me than I could deliver. I was stressed and rushed.I had some honest conversations and re-negotiated expectations. It wasn’t easy, but after each step toward clarity, I felt better.
To call such clumsy steps “delight” seems a stretch, but my lightness of being today is surely a delight over a week ago when, in my delight Journal, I wrote “rarrgh” because I simply couldn’t do better.
rarrgh
Worked on one of the projects due and felt satisfaction with progress.
First difficult conversation and a glimmer of hope.
Received a an email from Australia about an event at my church. I love the global reach of the Internet!
My credit card was canceled due to the Target security breach. Finally received my new card and was able to return to making promised donation payments. (More return to integrity!)
With renegotiated commitments, I moved through my day much more gently.
