Delights of the Day for the Week

Each day I watch for moments that inspire a strong feeling of gratitude and  joy within me.   I mentally label the strongest such moment The Delight of the Day.  The practice encourages what psychologists call “positive scanning.”  I’m waiting for good things to happen  and, when they do, I notice and celebrate them. The more I understand what brings me joy, the more I can drop into it.

Yesterday, I fly joined me during my time outside. I noticed the way her body shifted color as she crawled along my arm. I thought about the word “iridescence.” The sound of it moves me into mystery. Baldly stated, it’s “the property of certain surfaces that appear to change color as the angle of view or the angle of illumination changes.” More, it is a reminder that magic swarms around us when we take the time to appreciate it.

Where might I find magic if I change my angle of seeing?
Am I seeing a pest where I might see magic?

Some other delights from this week:

!!! My daughter kidding around with her teenage friends.

!!! Visiting the SMM Maya exhibit, marveling at ancient pottery. Later being serenaded by a mariachi band

!!! Getting a bunch of stuff done

!!! Reminding myself to love my body and making art with that message.

May you move toward your joy and find delight in each day.
